Minimum qualification for admission to Diploma in Pharmacy Part-I course —A pass in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics.
- Intermediate examination in Science
- The first year of the three-year degree course in Science
- 10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science
- Pre-degree examination
- Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examination
Duration of the course
The duration of the course shall be for two academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.

D.Pharmacy or D.Pharma is a diploma level course for candidates who wish to study pharmacy and begin a career in the medicine field. The duration of this course is two years after which candidates can get a job in the market in the pharmaceutical industry. This level of course is designed to provide the basic knowledge of the field in a very short duration of time.
There are a couple of options available after successful completion of diploma courses in pharmacy. The first is you can opt for higher studies in the field. The second is you may get entry level jobs in pharmaceutical companies or you can also work as a medical representative. Last but not the least you can open your own retail pharmacy outlet, wholesale business or surgical items shop.
Initially, the starting salary in jobs after completing D.Pharma ranges from Rs. 8000 to Rs. 20000 per month depending on the candidate’s merit, interpersonal skills, profile of the employer, job profile, and job location. Like all other professions the salary increases with time and experience in the field.
Candidates are eligible to pursue this course after successful completion of class 12 with the science stream. Candidates must have physics, chemistry, and mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry and Biology(PCB) in class 12. Candidates must be 17 years or above to enroll in these courses.
